(Hanover, November 2003) Barum, the car tyre brand with the attractive prices, recently sold the millionth car tyre from its product range in Germany. In the night from 25th to 26th November, a Barum Polaris 2 winter tyre was invoiced and delivered the very next day. The growing popularity of the brand with commercial partners and consumers is shown by the fact that this year the magic million mark was reached four weeks earlier than in 2002. The millionth Barum tyre this year was the new Polaris 2 winter tyre, size 195/65 R 15 T. It was ordered by a specialist tyre dealer near Wolfenbüttel. This tyre size is suitable for use on a variety of compact and medium range cars, including the Audi A3 and A4, Mercedes C-Class, 3 Series BMW and VW Golf. Barum was originally a Czech brand. The product range includes summer and winter tyres for cars, vans and trucks. As part of the Continental Group, the main Barum factory in Otrokovice in the Czech Republic is able to use modern tyre technology to produce tyres at attractive prices. The tyre plant in Otrokovice has been part of Continental AG since 1993. It is equipped with the latest machinery and the highly qualified staff there produce mainly Barum tyres, although tyres of other brands belonging to the Group are also manufactured at the plant. Around 52,000 car tyres leave the factory every day. Barum is a tyre brand of Continental AG. The Continental Group is a leading supplier of braking systems, suspension components and tyres. In 2002 the company employed some 64,500 staff worldwide and achieved a turnover of 11.4 billion euros.
