• Investing in talent, knowledge and innovation, international automotive supplier significantly steps up recruitment

Hanover, Germany, October 12, 2011. Continental has significantly increased the recruitment of junior staff in 2011, hiring around 5,500 graduates and young professionals worldwide. This is all part of Continental’s ongoing efforts to invest in fresh knowledge and new ideas and, in turn, increase its innovative prowess with highly qualified junior staff.

“In addition to investments in technology and future markets, investing in highly qualified junior staff is, of course, extremely important. No employees means no business – and vice versa. Worldwide, we expect to hire around 5,500 additional employees with up to five years’ professional experience this year,” reported Heinz-Gerhard Wente, Continental’s Executive Board member for Human Resources, on Wednesday in Hanover. The international automotive supplier is hiring mainly engineers and natural scientists, but also qualified professionals in economics, law and the humanities.

“As an international automotive supplier, Continental relies on qualified employees who want to help shape tomorrow’s individual and sustainable mobility. In addition to highly attractive positions with international prospects, flat hierarchical structures and opportunities for personal development, Continental offers a variety of technologies and opportunities for natural scientists, engineers and business administrators,” stressed Wente.

Continental employs around 30,000 engineers in the areas of production and R&D. Of the close to 5,500 new recruits worldwide, around 4,000 will fill engineering and 1,500 commercial positions.
