The Continental plant in Timosoara (Rumania) was the second production site outside the European Union that attained the EMAS-certificate.

2001  -  OSHA-Certificate for the Continental plant in Lousado (Portugal)

Continental plant Lousado (Portugal) was the first production site of the corporation to be certified according to the OHSA standards ISO 18001.

2001  -  First ESH-Policy of the Continental Cooperation (ESH=Environmental, Safety, Security and Health protection)

In the common ESH-Policy the individual goals of the different faculties are embraced.

2002 - EMAS Excellence Award der Europäischen Union für das Reifenwerk in Otrokovice (Czech Republic)

The EMAS Excellence Award is given to one company of each member state of the EU. The Continental plant in Otrokovice was the first company outside the EU to be honored with this award.
