1999 - Life Cycle Assessment for Passenger Car Tires Continental published the very first life cycle assessment (LCA) for passenger car tires according to ISO 14040. The LCA comprises the entire life cycle of a passenger car tire from the aquistion of ressources, the production of raw material and energy, the production of the tire, and the use of the tire. Environmental impacts from the use of the scrap tire in re-treading, in a cement kiln, or in a tire power plant are analyzed.
1999 - AIR Carcass Award Award from the Association of Industrial Re-treaders (AIR) for the brand Continental and Uniroyal for the optimal quality of their retreadable carcasses.
