1997 -  EMAS-Certificate for the Continental plant in Otrokovice (Czech Republic)

Already when the Czech Republic was not a member of the EU, the Continental plant in Otrokovice was certified according to the EU-standard EMAS as the first site outside of the EU. This documents that with shifting the production to an Eastern European country the environmental standards were also "exported".

1998 -  B.A.U.M. - Environmental Award

Continental received the environmental award of B.A.U.M. (An independent German organization of environmental protection associations)

Continental was found as the best company in Czech Republic, because of environmental policy, improvements of nature and health of people are very important parts of top management and company strategy.
