The subsidary "Reifenentsorgungsgesellschaft" (REG) was founded. The REG is engaged in the disposal and recycling of used tires.

1995 -  EU-Eco-Audit-Certificate for the Continental plant in Korbach (Germany)

Continental plant Korbach (Germany) was the first production site of the rubber industry in Europe that attained the EMAS-certificate.

1995 -  Environmental Award of Volkswagen AG

Continental received the environmental award of the Volkswagen AG (among more than 2.000 suppliers). Continental was honored for its commitment in environmental certification (Korbach plant), its engagement in end-of-life tire management (REG), its intensive endeavors for recycling in various areas and the development of innovative products with ecological advantages (ContiEcoContact).
