Test passed: FIA/CIK Approval for Continental Kart Tires

For the second time in history, Continental has received the international approval from the FIA International Automobile Federation for the use of kart tires. All FIA approval specifications for both product performance and production process are met by the new kart tires. Delegation leader and FIA/CIK inspector Michael Günther (DMSB) announced the approval following the completion of the FIA audit of the kart tire production in Korbach, praising the exceptionally good cooperation between the representatives of Continental, DMSB and FIA/CIK throughout the entire approval process.

As one of only three manufacturers, Continental with its 2005-2007 product range now offers all of the tires required by the FIA program: Soft, medium, hard and rain tires in the 5 inch range, for bambini and juniors as well as for seniors. The Continental products can now be used and even required by all organizers worldwide.

In the kart slalom of Germany's largest automobile club - the Allgemeine Deutsche Automobil Club or ADAC - Continental is the sole equipment supplier: With the newly developed CRC-CBS, which is especially quiet, Continental is the first and only manufacturer to meet the criteria specified. The promising four-stroke class in the ADAC "World Formula" is also running on Continental CRC-CBB race cart tires and the CAC-CBW rain tires for the next 3 years. In several ADAC regions, the ADAC Continental Kart Youngster Cup is also run on these kart tires.

Another German automobile club, the Automobilclub von Deutschland or AvD, is now using the Continental CKC Sport tire and the asymmetric Intermediate tire in its kart slalom events. In the new automobile club NAVC (Neuer Automobil- und Verkehrs Club) all classes use the newly developed hobby tires CRC-NAVC 2 and CAC- NAVC 2, as is also the case in the NKC club (Norddeutsche Kart Challenge).

Organizers are counting on Continental kart tires internationally as well. In England, the Formula 6 and the Saxon Biland Cup are running on the new CRC-CBA and CAC-CBW, and the Parilla Gazelle Cup in the Czech Republic is underway with the Continental Bambini tires. In Finland, three series now use Continental kart tires: The Euro Cup, the Supercup as well as the Biland Challange (four-stroke) run exclusively on CRC-CBB and CAC-CBW tires. In the Euro Cup, the CKC Sport is also specified.

The most recent news comes from the US: ContiTech, the sales partner for Continental cart tires in the US, has received a supplier contract for one of the largest associations in the US, the SKUSA, after all tests were passed, including tests run by the repeated US champion cart driver Bobby Wilson. In the future, karts will be running here on CRC-CBA and CAC-CBW tires.
