Female Formula Student – First Event in Hanover

It was a premiere for Continental’s Female Formula Student competition: Over 30 female Formula Student team members attended an event in Hanover. The two-day agenda included not only a visit to the Hanover-Stöcken site but also an attractive social program.

The female engineers were particularly enthusiastic about the visit to Stöcken. Following a brief introduction, they were shown around the R&D operations, giving them a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at what goes on there. Then the students tackled two case studies, which allowed them to put into practice what they were currently learning at university. They also had the opportunity to gain first-hand information from Continental engineers about the work they do for the company.

The second day included a program of sports activities. “This time, we purposely decided to try out an unusual concept that would also attract a lot of attention outside the group and address the specific interests of young female executives,” said organizer Barbara Texter from HR marketing and recruiting. Achieving the best balance between career, family and recreation is playing an increasing role in general nowadays, especially for career starters. Flexible working hours, job sharing and home office jobs are just some of the options Continental offers to provide employees with the best possible conditions on which to build.
