On the 29 and 30 April Continental once again organized the “Formula Student warm up event” in Korbach to ring in the decisive phase of this year’s Formula Student season, whose highlight will be the final competition at the Hockenheimring at the beginning of August. 13 from a total of 31 national and international teams sponsored by Continental answered the call and came all the way to the idyllic township in northern Hesse. Their object of desire was the new Formula student tire developed by diplomate Heiko Scholz and his tutors and produced by employees of the Korbach plant.

Before the freshly baked tires were handed over to their new owners, the students were offered an attractive program of different presentations to topics like “Get the Grip - 2Wheel competition tires” or the “Project TW4XP”. The latter presentation was about a hybrid concerning of an electric drive and muscular strength. Whoever was interested had the chance to take a ride in one of these two seating vehicles from which many students made use of. A common barbeque in the evening invited students and Continental employees to get to know each other and to exchange thoughts and ideas.

Furthermore, the students had the opportunity to participate in a guided tour through the tire factory in Korbach, during which the students seemed surprised about the variety and quantity of the produced ties. After that, the teams of Braunschweig, Zwickau (and Hanover) showed what their self-constructed vehicles are capable of during a little driving event on a separated race track. The highlight of the day was the following distribution of the tires among the teams, which were eager to get them before they returned back home with a smile on their face.
