Precision mechanic

Precision mechanics are experts for precision devices used in tool making and mechanical engineering. They produce components for machines and precision devices and assemble them into functional units with electronic measurement and control components. They use computerized machine tools for this but also do some of the work manually. Utmost precision is required in the performance of their tasks – when manufacturing punch tools or steel molds, for example.

Final qualifications

  • Certification as precision mechanic  by the German Chamber of Commerce
  • Vocational school diploma

  • Plan and optimize workflows
  • Program computerized machines
  • Do lathing, milling, drilling and grinding
  • Conduct quality controls
  • Maintain and repair precision mechanical devices
  • Manufacture, assemble and commission systems
  • Brief employees on systems
