Tec de Monterrey History

Tecnologico de Monterrey was founded in 1943 thanks to the vision of Eugenio Garza Sada and a group of businessmen who established a nonprofit association called Enseñanza e Investigacion Superior, A. C. Tecnologico de Monterrey is a private, non-profit institution independent of and not related to any political party or religious group. The work of the Tecnologico de Monterrey and of all of its campuses is supported by civil associations made up of a large group of outstanding leaders from all parts of the country, which are committed to quality in higher education. To function as an educational institution, the Tecnologico de Monterrey operates under the statute of a Free University. Today, Tecnologico de Monterrey is a multi-campus university system with academic centers in different regions of the country. In operation since 1989, Tecnologico de Monterrey’s Virtual University has become a pioneering institution in distance education in the Americas. The coverage of Tecnologico de Monterrey’s Virtual University extends to various Latin American countries. Tecnologico de Monterrey’s vision and mission for 2015 was the result of an exhaustive process of reflection and consultation in which 15 thousand people participated.

Vision

In 2015, Tecnologico de Monterrey will be the most widely recognized educational institution in Latin America for the leadership exercised by alumni in the private, public, and social sectors, and for the research and technological development it carries out to promote a knowledge-based economy, generate management and business incubators models, improve public administration and public policies, and create innovative models and systems for the sustainable development of the community.

Mission

The mission of Tecnologico de Monterrey is to form persons with integrity, ethical standards and a humanistic outlook, who are internationally competitive in their professional field and, who, at the same time are good citizens committed to the economic, political, social and cultural development of their community and to the sustainable use of natural resources.

Internationalization

6,959 Tecnologico de Monterrey’s students abroad in semester or summer programs 754 Tecnologico de Monterrey’s faculty members participating in  international projects, summer programs, international seminars and congresses. 4,423 International students enrolled in semester or summer programs. 911 international faculty members worked in our campuses
