The passenger car tire building machine KM F
The passenger car tire building machine KM F -1st stage level - manufactures the carcass. Once the 1st stage and the transfer of the carcass has been completed, the process of building the green tire starts on the 2nd stage.

Description of functions
The bead cores need to be centered on the bead setting rings manually. Depending on the choice of servicer the listed steps will follow: the 2nd stage.

  • Expansion of drum
  • Laying of inner-liner
  • Laying of 1st and, if needed, 2nd ply
  • Shoulder construction with Finger Ply Down and placing of bead cores
  • Forming rim loop via bladders and turn-up rings or, alternatively, via double bladder system.

The process of laying and rolling the sidewall, and the retraction of the drum completes the building of the carcass. A change in work procedures secures the building of a 2. ply „on top of the bead core“.

Components

Central machine unit
The main components of the central machine unit consist of a solid machine bed with an immovable headstock and a movable tailstock. Both head- and tailstock are equipped with shafts and drive systems to make use of any dimension-dependant tools.

Stitching units
The basic version contains a cylinder-shaped main stitcher and a roll-round device to pick up the sidewall. Dimension-dependant width and diameter adjustments may according to customer requirements either be made manually or automatically.

Tools
The implemented tool sets are available for dimensions of 13'' - 20'' and optionally for dimensions of 15“ - 24“. (Further dimensions are available on request.) Tools of renowned makers may be included according to customer requests.

Master control system
The tire building machine includes an IPC (PC based control) by the renowned control manufacturer Beckhof which controls all processes.

The Motion Control Function of the SPS software has total control of the various machine drives which guarantees an exact positioning of the drum and further vital drives, as well as a synchronised operation of drum (master) and sidewall conveyor (slave). All machine sensors and machine actuators are linked to the Soft-PLC inside the control cabinet via the fieldbus system LIGHTBUS.

The components of the pneumatic control are set closely in the vicinity of the pneumatic cylinders or are fitted optionally inside control cabinets made by Rittal directly on the machine. All electrical installations comply with EN guidelines and adhere to the current specifications of the Continental AG regarding plants and machines.

The security functions operate on an One – Error – Secure basis according to the risks involved.

Operating the master control system
All operations are executed via a control board which is equipped with individual control elements (switches, push-buttons and indicator lamps) and a display unit with keyboard.

The parameter and recipes can be entered via the machine´s visual display unit. Errors and system messages regarding a disruption of machine operations appear.
