Applying two apexes to wire bead cores |
|
APEX Machine
Principle of Operation The extruded double apex strip is fed via the takeoff conveyor and the cooling drum to the 4-roll accumulator and cut by a slitter. The two ensuing strips are then transported by a tray servicer to a building drum. Two metal bead cores are fed in manually on plastic material carriers (so-called separators), conveyed automatically to the building drum and positioned by means of a rubber bladder. A steep central bead is produced as a result of bladder shaping; the apexes are applied in pairs to the metal bead cores that have been fixed by the bladder, and pressed against the separators. On deflation of the bladder, the bead cores now covered with apexes can be removed manually together with the separators. Modules The entire machine consists of the modules described below which are set up in an in-line arrangement. |
