Help for Hurricane Victims
in North and Central America

Silao

Continental factories in the U.S.A. and Mexico helped the victims of the devastating hurricanes Katrina and Stan in 2005 with gifts of money and goods: Continental Tire North America and Continental Teves North America supported the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which raged in August 2005, with donations of 50,000 U.S. dollars each. The money was made available to relief organizations in North and South Carolina which were supplying the evacuees with food. In addition to providing financial assistance, Continental Tire, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, joined the city administration in supporting specific aid projects in Charlotte.

At the beginning of October 2005, southern Mexico bore the full brunt of Hurricane Stan. Nearly one million people were left homeless and damages ran into millions of dollars. The Continental plant at Silao came to their aid. With the help of Human Resources Manager Cristina Vazquez, Graciela Camacho, a production employee at the plant, launched a large on-site fund-raising campaign. This yielded four large transport containers full of clothing, water, food, and medicine.
