Since 2005 Continental has presented the “Continental Auto-Motivated Student Award” in recognition of the best dissertations to come out of the University of Karlsruhe’s electrical engineering and information processing technology departments. The student award demonstrates Continental's intention to strengthen links with key universities in the automotive sector and its commitment to developing the next generation of highly qualified engineers in Germany. The competition is part of the "Continental Ambassador Program", in which staff, as Continental ambassadors, presents the company as an attractive employer at universities. At the end of 2010, Heinz-Gerhard Wente, Executive Board Member responsible for Human Resources, presented the Auto-Motivated Student Awards during an excursion to Frankfurt. In addition to certificates, the winning students also received a €500 prize.
