Corporation Memberships

Continental AG is a member of the

World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), enabling it to incorporate its  Corporate Social Responsibility-Strategy into an international context. The WBCSD, founded in 1995, is a frontrunner and catalyst on the path to sustainable development. The aim of this alliance is to promote the role of ecological efficiency, innovation and corporate social responsibility. Since it was established, over 170 international companies have joined the WBCSD, which has regional networks in Africa, North and South America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

The WBCSD is a follow-up to the agreements reached at the Rio Conference and the demands made by Agenda 21. Future development must be designed in such a manner that economic, ecological and social goals are given equal weight. For this purpose, the WBCSD intends to strengthen cooperation between business, governments and non-governmental organizations.

Further information is available at www.wbcsd.org.

The FTSE4Good index is a sustainability index in which only companies are accepted that have fulfilled strict criteria in the areas of management, environmental protection, and social responsibility. Especially for investors, who view these criteria as important factors when deciding where to invest, the FTSE4Good index serves as an orientation aid and benchmark.
