Continental Sponsors TUIfly Marathon in Hanover

Tire manufacturer underscores sports sponsorship in the region of its corporate headquarters

Hanover, March 15, 2010. The TUIFly marathon, which will be run for the 20th time in Hanover on May 2, 2010, is receiving ever more support from local businesses. After the financial services provider AWD and the new media partner radio ffn, Continental AG has now also joined the network of sponsoring partners from the capital city and is supporting the main sponsor TUI AG and the organizer eichels: Event in Lower Saxony’s biggest running spectacle and the state’s largest hobby sport event.

Europe’s leading tire manufacturer is thus underscoring its new intensified focus on the active sponsorship of regional sports and thus also the active marketing of its location. “The mutual planning and the new commitment on the part of Continental AG to the TUIfly marathon in Hanover are a strong signal for us. With our work, we build upon the strength of the city of Hanover and the region, proudly presenting the Hanover brand publicly. This commitment to our event gives us a boost and is a further indication of broad support,” says events organizer Stefanie Eichel, commenting on the good news from Continental AG.

In addition to the financial support, Continental AG, with the core of the company’s own running organization “Conti_Runner”, will also participate actively in the competition for the “Most Advanced Company”, encouraging the corporation’s employees, customers, friends and acquaintances to take part in the weekend marathon.

With nearly 8,000 runners registered so far, the TUIfly Marathon is heading for a new record (registrations as of mid-March 2009: 7,000 participants). 1,721 runners have already registered for the classic marathon distance, which is 41.18 percent more than at the same point in time last year.
