Continental Champions Disadvantaged
Children and Young People in Ecuador

Tires are a whole lot more important for some people than for others. For those dependent on a wheelchair, tires are often the sole way to be independently mobile. In particular kids and teens forced to spend their life in a wheelchair experience limitations in their recreational activities with friends.

That is why Continental Tire the Americas (CTA) has gotten involved in the "Escuela Ecuatoria de Tenis en Ruedas" tennis school established in Quito, Ecuador, in 2006. Playing tennis here with kindred spirits, children and adolescents can again engage in exuberant fun. CTA enabled the tennis school to buy new wheelchairs, tennis rackets and balls as well as other desperately needed equipment.  The trainers and players were enormously pleased and grateful to accept the new equipment.

Alongside the pleasure of romping about, the young tennis enthusiasts also racked up a number of athletic successes. A female player even represented them at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
