Hanover, July 2010. Continental AG is an official sponsor of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa and is supporting a 3-year Dibanisa project with a total of €10,000. “Dibanisa” means “add-together”, and that is precisely what the Dibanisa e.V. society in Hanover wants to do with this project. Three years long, bringing together 120 children a month, ranging in age from eight to thirteen, with education and football activities, showing them new development perspectives by communicating social values and skills and fostering their development outside of school. More than 4,000 children will benefit from this project. The money will be used specifically for the “Development through Football” project in Gansbaai, South Africa, in the next three years.

“With our donation, we would like to provide some support for people in the Gansbaai region for the period following the 2010 FIFA World Cup, when once again less attention will be focused on the country of South Africa. For as many children as possible, this project is to be an important step towards a positive development for the future, a place of hope,” says Continental press spokesman Alexander Lührs, explaining the motivation for the company's involvement in the project. The tire manufacturer is thus following Nelson Mandela’s statement that “Sport has the power to change the world.” In Gansbaai, a mini football field (40 x 20 m) and a class room have already been built, which are the central meeting hubs for this project. Dibanisa ambassadors include the football pros Timo Hildebrand, who supported the advertising for Continental passenger and light truck tires from 2004 to 2008 as brand ambassador, as well as Marcos Senna, who plays in the top Spanish club FC Valencia. The TV moderators Milka Loff Fernandes and Florian König are also committed to drawing attention to the various Dibanisa initiatives. The Dibanisa website www.dibanisa.org provides information about the progress of the Gansbaai project and other projects, as well as the ambassadors and sponsors.
