In collaboration with the local Village Museum, the Continental tire plant in Timişoara, Romania, initiated the “More Green for the Museum” project at the end of April 2010. The point of the initiative is a rejuvenation of the wooded area and an expansion of the green zone on the museum premises.  With vigorous support from 30 pupils at the local forestry high school, 37 trees were planted to enhance the beauty of the grounds. Continental donated the saplings, which had been grown at the high school’s nursery by the up-and-coming foresters.

Pedro Carreira, general manager of the tire plant in Timişoara, is delighted with the joint environmentally-aware commitment on the part of all involved. “Continental is proud to be a part of this project. For one thing it serves the objective of environmental protection. What’s more, it brings nature and environmental protection a bit closer to the younger generation.”

Other activities are already planned within the framework of an educational partnership between Continental and the Village Museum in Timişoara.
