Continental has demonstrated its commitment to the integration projects of two football clubs in Hanover by donating €7,500, with €3,750 going to the each of the clubs SV Borussia Hannover club and SV 07 Linden. On January 19, 2010, Continental presented the youth divisions of the two clubs with symbolic checks at the NP sports gala, which was organized by the editorial sports staff of the Hanover-based “Neue Presse” newspaper. At the helm of the integration projects are the Football League’s record-setting player, Karl-Heinz „Charly“ Körbel, and the German World and Europe Cup football champion Renate Lingor, who is currently working for the German Football Association to help organize the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup™ in Germany. The young SV Borussia Hannover football players were thrilled with the donation, which will be used for travel expenses, new footballs and possibly for a new team bus. The club, which trains in a socially deprived area with a high percentage of migrants, has set itself the goal of socially integrating girls by means of football. In cooperation with a neighboring school, girls in work associations are to be introduced to football and motivated to join the sports club. The young players in the SV 07 Linden club are also already looking forward to the football days planned for children and youth, as well as a training camp, all of which has been made possible by the donation. About two years ago, the club developed a new youth concept as part of the integration project. Migration difficulties could be alleviated substantially with a newly introduced code of conduct. This greatly improved the respect and esteem in dealing with others, between the club players as well as between parents and fans at football matches.
