The third edition of the Timişoara duck race was run in June 2010. The goal of this year's event was to raise money for charity projects. Companies and private persons were called upon to participate in the race on the Bega River by buying small rubber ducks. This year there were 5,000 ducks at the starting line. Proceeds from this year's race will help fund renovations at the Bega Maternity Hospital.

The initiative is organized by the city administration with the help of the German Consulate, the Rotary Club and local companies. The Continental plant in Timişoara is one of the main sponsors again this year.

"This is the third time that Continental Tires Timişoara is sponsoring the duck race. We intend to be a partner of the community in Timişoara. We therefore promote initiatives in which the citizens of Timişoara and local businesses reach out together for a good cause," explains Pedro Carreira, general manager of Continental Tires in Timişoara. The company provided financial support as well as a set of tires for the owner of the duck that was second to cross the finish line. Proceeds of this year's event will be used for the renovatation of one wing of the Bega Maternity Hospital in which the pediatrics ward is located.
