Continental family in Camaçari goes all out
for children in need

The employees at the tire plant in Camaçari, Brazil, regularly get involved on behalf of disadvantaged or exceptionally challenged children. This is important in a country where people are more dependent on helping one another than is the case in Western Europe, for example. Such activities in recent times have included helping out an association that takes care of close to 120 exceptionally challenged children. The Continental workforce assisted in renovating the association’s premises. They painted the place, did some carpentry work and removed old flooring.

The association in question – APAE, which stands for Associao de Pais a Amigos dos Exceptionais – is an initiative launched by parents in 2000. It supports the integration of developmentally challenged children at school and in society. Upon completion of the first phase of renovation work, the Continental staffers in Brazil want to conduct further projects on behalf of the parents’ initiative.

Already last year the workforce at the Continental plant in Camaçari pitched in for an orphanage and lent a hand in renovating the facility. They also donated school materials, clothes and toys.
