BASICS Live - worldwide empolyee survey

“BASICS live” – your opinion is what impels us to work together on improvements

“BASICS live” is Continental’s worldwide survey of all employees. Alongside the 45 standard questions for employees throughout the corporation, each division or plant can add extra questions of its own. Among other things, the survey assesses overall satisfaction, management quality and the attitude of Continental employees.

For us, the survey is an important tool for improving corporate culture and cooperation within the corporation. Participation in the survey is voluntary. Confidentiality and anonymity are ensured throughout.

“BASICS live” was introduced in 2006 following a pilot project in 2004. Since then, it has been conducted every three years. In 2008, more than 130,000 employees participated at some 200 locations around the world. The survey has prompted about 10,000 improvement measures, all of which have been implemented successfully. In 2011, “BASICS live” will take place in August and September under the motto “Be heard and improve together”. The questionnaires have been prepared in 31 languages.

“BIG SIX Radar”

Every three years – alternating with “BASICS live” – the 360° feedback process, “BIG SIX Radar”, gives our senior executives a chance to obtain feedback on their own capabilities and their own comportment. The feedback comes from various perspectives and looks at a number of different issues.

Colleagues, internal customers and superiors evaluate the executive on the basis of our personnel development success factors, the so-called BIG SIX – vision, entrepreneurship, execution, drive, learning and interaction. The executive must also do a self-evaluation of his or her own personal capabilities.

“BIG SIX Radar” helps the executive to identify personal strengths and development potential. Above and beyond this, it reflects how the executive is perceived by others.
