Proven quality a million times over

Benefit from the experience of one of the world’s premier automotive brake suppliers and specialists.  With sales of more than one 100 million wheel speed sensors, ATE stands among the leading suppliers of these sensors in Europe.  You can confidently rely upon the tried and tested quality of a product when it is used worldwide.

ABS is standard equipment for all newly registered cars in Europe.  ESP is well on its way to becoming the new standard. We offer intelligent sensor technology, including active and passive wheel speed sensors.

The expanding trends for comfort and safety, including the rapid and precise detection of rotational speeds, as well as motion and physical forces acting upon the vehicle, require companies to focus upon the importance of these electronic vehicle control systems:

  • Vehicle stability systems
  • Engine management systems
  • Transmission control systems

These systems positively contribute to the following customer expectations:

  • Superior driving safety
  • Superior driving dynamics
  • Enhanced riding comfort
  • Lower fuel consumption
  • Lower emissions

Features and functions of active wheel speed sensors

Rotational speed detection is based on the anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) effect. Thanks to this effect, and to integrative information processing, active sensors offer functions which go far beyond mere rotational speed detection. In the latest sensor generation these functions include:

  • Detection of sense of rotation.
  • Detection of stoppage.
  • Additional digital input on the sensor for the external signals (ie: brake pad wear monitoring.
  • Large gaps up to 4.5mm
  • Standardized VDA data protocol
  • Current interface.

Our Service

Continental offers an extensive wheel sensor range. It is present throughout Europe in the small car segment, for both old and new vehicles.

  • The product range offers both active and passive wheel speed sensors.
  • Special ABS/ESP courses are part of the ATE's offer of training.
  • Suitable measuring equipment and tools are available for precise fault diagnostic and repair.
  • A wheel speed sensor troubleshooting chart is available when the ABS/ESP fault indicator light appears.
